I Turned Frustration into Fuel & Built a Better Way to Heal

Hi! I’m Ashley Mowbray

I help women break the cycle of dieting, understand their bodies, and build sustainable habits that can fit their life — without giving up the foods they love.

Through personalized support and simple nutrition, I empower women to improve their relationship with food, support their hormones, and heal chronic gut issues, so they can finally feel at home in their body.

It All Started with Bloating, Burnout, & A lot of Bad Advice

For years, I felt trapped in a body that didn’t feel like mine — and the harder I tried to “fix it”, the worse my symptoms got. Like so many women, I was stuck in a cycle of restrictive diets, constant bloating, and second-guessing everything I ate. I thought counting calories and controlling portions meant I was “being healthy.”

But in reality, I wasn’t nourished at all. I was stressed, exhausted, and frustrated that no one had answers.

I went from specialist to specialist, spent thousands on conventional tests, and was eventually told to just “get used to it”, try some Miralax and move on.

But that wasn’t good enough for me.

Discovering functional nutrition and GI MAP testing finally gave me answers. For the first time, I understood why no amount of “clean eating” or willpower was working.

For the first time, I learned how deeply food, stress, gut health, and hormones are connected — and it changed everything.

This Isn’t About Eating Less. It’s About Knowing More.

Before founding The Self Care Dietitian, I spent years working in conventional medicine, specializing in pediatrics and women’s health. Over time, I became increasingly disheartened by the lack of focus on prevention and meaningful, lasting solutions — especially when it came to women’s health.

Too many of us are dismissed in doctors’ offices.
Too many women are told our symptoms are “normal.”

And somehow, our pursuit for better health has been reduced to one goal: becoming thin.

I started this practice to change all of that.

Nourishing Your Body Should Feel Like a Gift, Not a Chore

It took years of chasing my own symptoms to learn that sustainable health isn’t about cutting foods out, it’s about giving your body what it’s truly missing.

I believe nutrition should be...

Rooted in science to help you trust your body, not diet culture

Focused on hormones, gut health, and energy, not just weight

Built on simple habits, not all-or-nothing rules

A source of self-care and consistency, not guilt and restriction

Ready to Feel Like Yourself Again?

You don’t need another diet. You need answers.

Let’s find out what your body is telling you and build a plan that helps you regain confidence, energy, and control over your changing body.
